cute cat pic of the week

I just saw Ponyo and i recommend that everyone go out and see it right now! It was so cute and funny. I also recommend you get to the theater early for good seats because lots of little kids are going to be there too. Of course i did go on a rainy saturday afternoon...but it was so good!

Look at those knees!

My Chubbikins are now in a second location! You can find them at the Summer Island Studio in Brunswick, ME. It's a nice little gallery in a cute little town. I think my chubbikins will be very happy there. My phoenix chubbikin was featured in a really cool blog called the Maine Maven! Take a look at it here. This blog makes maine look like a cool place.

christmas in august

Here are my submissions for the Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine holiday stuffies challenge. If you made it into the magazine, you were supposed to hear back from them by the 1st. Since i haven't heard anything, i'm going to assume i didn't make it in. I really thought i was going to get in with this one! Ugh. I haven't decided if i'm going to try selling them or not, but i really like these guys, so i'll probably just keep them.

peeks

I've been thinking lately i should try my hand at oil painting again. I haven't done it in quite a while, so i'm probably pretty rusty. But these little babies are crying out for portraits! I should check to see if my paints have all dried up...

James and i were at AC Moore the other day, waiting in the check out line. The lady ahead of me was having some sort of problem with her credit card or something, so it taking a while (i always seem to pick the wrong check out line to get into). There was a teenage girl and her mom behind us. A girl came over to the next register, looked at me, and said "i can take the next person in line over here." The teenage girl and her mom immediately walked over to the line, as did James and I. James said "Excuse me, ma'am..." And i said "We were next in line..." and the mom says "oh, EXCUSE me!" The check out girl starts ringing up my things and the mom says "Cranky!" I couldn't believe it! I guess some people just don't know common check out line courtesy.

sowa open market

Happy open market day! My first real craft fair went pretty well. Though the tent was very difficult to set up (we had to have five strapping guys help us), it stayed up and looked great. Most everyone who stopped by was very nice. This excludes two little girls who started yelling at me...but that's a long story. Some people seemed very confused by the Chubbikins (and Anne's Gogolshocks), and i was confused by their confusion. "What are chubkins?" (That seemed to be the most popular pronunciation). Sigh. The weather held out and only sprinkled for a few minutes in the afternoon. I made a few sales and had fun! I am looking forward to the Halloween one now and am going to start themed chubbikins soon.

The addition of this basket saved my tablecloth from flying away.

I think next time i'll have to find a better set up for the prints - no one looked through them.

Hi Anne!

We had the funnest tent there.
